Frequently Asked Questions
-
Is parking available at the event?Yes! A large carpark is located at the church opposite the showgrounds (on Mudgeeraba Rd) and is free for all attendees to use. Once you've parked, you can access the event via the underpass at the northern end of the carpark (preferred) or by crossing the road at the lights (corner of Mudgeeraba and Worongary Rds). Parking spaces are likely to fill up through the weekend, so we encourage guests to carpool or consider public transport options if possible.
-
Is public transport available?Public transport is available via Kinetic Buslines (formerly Surfside) from Robina Town Centre or Nerang Station. Bus route 748 will take you to the corner of Mudgeeraba and Worongary Roads. See full bus route 748 timetable For those traveling from Broadbeach, bus route 750 will get you from Pacific Fair to Robina, where you will be able to change to bus 748. We strongly recommend checking the routes/timetables on the Translink Journey Planner at https://jp.translink.com.au/plan-your-journey/journey-planner

Can I bring my dog?Unfortunately at this stage we can't allow pets at the event. There will simply be too many people and too much delicious BBQ going around to be able trust our furry little mates.
-
Is the food free?We have a huge spread of low'n'slow BBQ vendors and varied other cuisines available for purchase on the day. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 regulations, the teams competing in the SmokeFest GC BBQ competition are not permitted to hand out samples to attendees during the event.
-
Is the event family friendly?Absolutely! We encourage you to bring the whole family along, and we've arranged a host of activities to entertain even the youngest BBQ fan. Check out the Kids section of the website for an idea of the entertainment that will be available on the day.
-
How much do the kids rides cost?Nothing! We have decided to include access to all of the kids rides/entertainment in the ticket cost. Some activities will have height/age restrictions of course, but there will be fun things to do for all ages, from 1yr right up to 17yrs.
-
Can I try the BBQ competition food? The short answer is unfortunately not. Due to COVID-19 regulations, teams are no longer permitted to hand out samples/left overs to the general public. However, if you're super keen to get involved, contact us via FB or email and ask about scoring an official judging spot for one or more of the competitions!

Will there be any COVID-19 restrictions?SmokeFest GC will operate under the QLD Government COVID-19 regulations relevant at the time. As of 03/10/22, everyone is welcome to attend SmokeFest GC regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status. We will, of course, continue to encourage COVID-safe practices and social distancing where possible, and hand sanitiser will be available for public use at multiple locations throughout the event.
